ASP.Net
I have been working with ASP.Net, and Classic ASP before that, for nearly ten years. I have developed several types of web applications, including retail sites, content management applications and more simple informational sites. I generally design using a n-tier application structure using C# for application logic and SQL Server as the data engine.
May I have some buzz words and acronyms please?
- ASP.Net (well that’s obvious)
- C#
- SQL Server
- LINQ
- JavaScript & AJAX
- Web Services
PHP
My day job used to be about ASP.Net. Now that I am a DBA, all my web development is done in PHP. Initially it was an economic decision, as hosting costs for PHP range from dirt-cheap to free. So the combination of cheap hosting and a powerful technology that “just works” becomes very compelling indeed.
More buzz words and acronyms please.
- PHP (well that’s obvious
- MySQL
- LAMP
XHTML / XML
I work make my code XTML compliant. On the face of it that doesn’t seem like that big of a task, but many ASP.Net controls in the 1.1 days would thwart my efforts to make standards compliant web sites. I use recommended standards for separating data and display logic using CSS and XSLT.
I just can’t get enough of those buzz words and acronyms:
- XML & XHTML
- XSLT
- XPath
- XQuery
